The Thunder ‘hammer-loving’ God is back!!!

In this follow up sequel to 2011’s Thor, the God of Thunder returns and he’s back to rescue Earth and protect his mortal love. Looks like Thor: The Dark World is sticking to the good ol’ textbook fanboy favourite recipe – that is the struggle between duty or passion!

As revealed in the trailer, it seems like Earth is being threatened and so Thor returns to bring Jane – the mortal who captured his heart in the last film – back to Asgard where he can protect her. Audiences catch a glimpse of Thor’s fellow female warrior, Sif, showing a look of disdain as she sees who Thor has brought back with him. A possible love rivalry in the storyline perhaps? That would be interesting seeing that Sif is a lover of Thor in the comics, and she’s the one I would root for if the film does indeed develop a side story surrounding that issue. Sorry Jane but I like my women tough!

This sequel definitely looks way more action packed than the first, with massive battle fights against an army of baddies spotted, as well as explosives and fires littering the scenes in the background. The most intriguing point of attention in the film for me is the fate of Jane. She is seen being held hostage by the enemy and totally rendered helpless under his power. This is then followed by a scene of a screaming Thor falling to his knees and booming in his thunderous voice “NOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo……..” . Things look desperate for Thor as we see him approaching an unlikely character for help, who is noneother than his infamous villain of a brother, Loki.

Overall, the suspense built up by the trailer is intense and I am looking forward to see how this all pans out. Plus, the A-list ‘hottie’ cast of Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth sure doesn’t hurt the film at all;] Hopefully, it will be as good in depth and entertainment as The Avengers was. I did find the first Thor Film cheesy, but I think round two will be much more promising than the first:)

New Man Of Steel Trailer Reveals What The “S” Really Stands For

This latest trailer of Man Of Steel is by far my favourite one yet! The tone of the story looks solid and intricate, venturing deep into the roots of our superhero while also exploring his growth on Earth.  Thank goodness it’s not just another refreshed version of a Superman and Lois Lane love story, that was getting abit overused and boring.

And for the first time, I actually hear what the “S” stands for which I found pretty cool, because it is a very apt symbol for our particular hero to don. I have no idea if this “S” revelation is independent of the comics, but watch the trailer to find out the truth behind the “S”!

In Catching Fire – part two of the trilogy – Katniss and Peeta return home for their victory tour after having survived and thus winning the harrowing challenge that is The Hunger Games. Due to the events surrounding her victory, Katniss has unwittingly become a symbol of hope for the people in the districts. As seen in the trailer, The President is concerned about the potential ‘threat’ that Katniss poses to his power and the Capitol should a rebellion arise, and hence he is all out to get rid of her once and for all.

Meanwhile, Katniss and Peeta realize that it is not all glory and happy ever after despite becoming victors, instead a gloomier darker fate lies ahead. In the second part of the trailer we see glimpses of the relationship between Katniss and her hometown sweetheart Gale. Having read the books, I have always been team Peeta so pfffffffttt to Gale!

Overall, everything looks pretty exciting although I cannot yet tell how true the film follows the book judging by just this few minutes alone. But Jennifer Lawrence sure looks as captivating as ever as ‘The Girl On Fire’. And I am not sure if it is just me, but I find Lawrence’s presence more commanding as I watch her in the trailer now as compared to the previous installment where everyone was going “who’s that girl”. After seeing her don such strong roles and performances in Winter’s Bones, Silver Linings Playbook and The Poker House, every time I look at Lawrence now, I just see this seasoned veteran’s glow exuding from her like she’s been doing this career for years. And now with a best actress Oscar to her name, it is really hard to imagine that only ONE year ago, most people haven’t even heard of her name. This girl sure is one tough amazing cookie!

The movie still has a long way to go before it hits cinemas in November, so enjoy this trailer for now all you hungry Hunger Game fans!

The trailer liesssss…..my country doesn’t have this title on itunes demand, which is a real bummer:(

But on another note, I just realized that the actress Olga Kurylenko is having a breakout season starring in quite a number of movies lately. I just saw her in Oblivion yesterday (which I love love love for the interesting story and execution, review following soon!) and also in Seven Psychopaths this year. The last I remembered of her was in Quantum of Solace and I did not like that movie so obviously she did not really register in my memory. I did find her very familiar in Oblivion and that triggered my memory of the forgotten Bond actress, but I think she’s going to be a much more familiar sight in the industry with the way things are going now:)

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ 2nd Trailer Looks Riveting and Promising

Fantasy stories are my achilles heel, I’m always on the lookout for the next big story that will sweep me off my feet just as the amazing Harry Potter series did. So far Twilight, Beautiful Creatures and others have not come close in terms of film adaptation and substance (or should I say appeal) in the story material. But recently, I can’t help but notice an upcoming film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.  The story looks really inviting, and that’s just from the trailer itself so I can’t really judge yet. For now, I am just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a good ol fantasy story that will deliver well across the silver screens:)

Starring Lily Colins, Jamie Campbell Bower (last engaged to fellow Harry Potter co-star Bonnie Wright, and now dating Lily Colins) and my favourite – Jonathan Rhys-Meyers; there’s really not much more to say about the film except that there will be shadowhunters, demons, werewolves, vampires, warlocks and other kinds of creatures imaginable. Hope that’s enough juice in there to whet up your appetite and interest in the movie;]
