The Thunder ‘hammer-loving’ God is back!!!
In this follow up sequel to 2011’s Thor, the God of Thunder returns and he’s back to rescue Earth and protect his mortal love. Looks like Thor: The Dark World is sticking to the good ol’ textbook fanboy favourite recipe – that is the struggle between duty or passion!
As revealed in the trailer, it seems like Earth is being threatened and so Thor returns to bring Jane – the mortal who captured his heart in the last film – back to Asgard where he can protect her. Audiences catch a glimpse of Thor’s fellow female warrior, Sif, showing a look of disdain as she sees who Thor has brought back with him. A possible love rivalry in the storyline perhaps? That would be interesting seeing that Sif is a lover of Thor in the comics, and she’s the one I would root for if the film does indeed develop a side story surrounding that issue. Sorry Jane but I like my women tough!
This sequel definitely looks way more action packed than the first, with massive battle fights against an army of baddies spotted, as well as explosives and fires littering the scenes in the background. The most intriguing point of attention in the film for me is the fate of Jane. She is seen being held hostage by the enemy and totally rendered helpless under his power. This is then followed by a scene of a screaming Thor falling to his knees and booming in his thunderous voice “NOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo……..” . Things look desperate for Thor as we see him approaching an unlikely character for help, who is noneother than his infamous villain of a brother, Loki.
Overall, the suspense built up by the trailer is intense and I am looking forward to see how this all pans out. Plus, the A-list ‘hottie’ cast of Natalie Portman and Chris Hemsworth sure doesn’t hurt the film at all;] Hopefully, it will be as good in depth and entertainment as The Avengers was. I did find the first Thor Film cheesy, but I think round two will be much more promising than the first:)
