The Great Gatsby, a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, was a book I read in the winter of 2010. I was on a road trip in Spain with the company of close friends, and during the long bus ride from town to town, I was drawn to how glued my friend was to the book she was reading (fun fact: my friend read this book to fulfill her bucket list wish of reading an orange penguin book). And so when she was finished with it I borrowed the book from her and then it was my turn to be hooked. That book was The Great Gatsby. And imagine my delight when a few months later I heard that they were gonna make a film adaptation of TGG, and with an awesome cast to boot! So ever since the beginning of 2012, I have been checking the web for the official trailer of the film and waiting for its release. I’m happy to say, the search for the trailer has now ended. Happy feasting your eyes on this gem of a trailer everyone:)
From the director of Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge, Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby looks set to enthrall with its beautiful scenes of the 1920s; and the opulence of the parties of the rich as seen in the trailer is just a sight to behold!
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio (Jay Gatsby), Carey Mulligan (Daisy Buchanan), Toby Maguire (Nick Carraway), Isla Fisher (Myrtle Wilson)
Story: The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan. It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.
