Ok, I know this is more about fashion rather than movies/stories but…… I JUST COULDN’T RESIST posting about this!!:) I’m a huge Wizard of Oz fan and thus the upcoming film Oz The Great and Powerful has been on my countdown movie radar for the past year. And going by my radar, that leaves just SIX more days till the movie opens in cinemas island wide here, woohoo! And by island, I mean country, and by country I mean Singapore – the country that’s smaller than a dot on the world map;]
SO ANYWAY, my eyes lit up when I passed by Sephora today and saw giant posters of Theodora (played by Mila Kunis) and Glinda (played by Michelle Williams) at the Urban Decay counters. What I saw next made my fan girl eyes twinkle with delight!
Sitting on the counters were such pretty coloured make-up palettes of eyeshadows, and the packaging is a real killer for Oz fans! Inside the limited edition Oz palettes (there are 2 – The Glinda Palette and The Theodora Palette), one gets a pretty designed tin palette holder containing the eyeshadows, an eyeliner and a lip gloss stick, plus a pretty square-cut gloss picture of either witch, depending which palette you chose.
Over here, one palette was going for $78 (it’s at times like this I wish I lived in America), hence I wasn’t sure if I should splurge on it… … … but in the end I did, teehee:)
I went for the Theodora palette as the colours were darker and more suited for everyday wear, plus I loved the pop of red that the rich gloss lip-stick came in. I thought that The Glinda palette’s colours were harder to match for everyday wear and the shadows were very glittery (silver, gold, pink…), too princessy or fairy-ish for me. I also didn’t like how they left glitter residue all over my hands for the Glinda palette shadows. And since I prefer the dark side, going for Theodora was a no-brainer for me;]
The release of Urban Decay’s limited edition Oz palettes today certainly seems timely with the release of the movie just less than a week away. If this is part of the film’s marketing action, it certainly got my excitement for the movie piqued again. And now more than ever, I can’t wait to catch Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and James Franco in OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL!!! Keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t be disappointed.
